Phung Xa Village is run by the national Artisan Phan Thi Thuan - the last descendant of the original silk weaving (from the silkworm and lotus flower) practice in Vietnam.
Phung Xa Village is also the first and only place to weave fabrics from the subtle Lotus silk in Vietnam.
It is the conversation with the Artisan that inspired me the most, in which she revealed her most influential drive in her profession: an homage to legacy and patriotism.

The Artisan ( standing on the right corrner) holds summer camps every year to "hire" kids to help her extract the lotus fiiber as a way to pass down this practice to younger generations.
To her, this keeps the heritage relevant in the future.

On a trip to a pineapple farm in Quynh Luu, Nghe An, I did research on the pineapple (sisal) fiber as well as the sansevieria fiber while running a media campaign for the company.
I had a chance to oversee the production of the pineapple fiber, from harvesting the leaves to decorticating the raw fibers, then drying, degumming, and eventually weaving into fabrics.
